Ceramic Veneers are the answer to erase the signs of time with minimal dental wear.

Have you ever imagined being able to slow down time on your teeth, effectively? Or correct and harmonize the dentition, totally or partially? Everything in order to gain a more beautiful, rejuvenated and crystalline smile? Well, know that these dreams can already come true : Smile lift with ceramic veneers, a Cosmetic Dentistry technique, restores your smile and makes you more confident. It raises your self-esteem. and others notice that you are naturally more beautiful than ever! Fantastic!

What are Ceramic Veneers?

They are very thin ceramic shells that are applied to teeth after they have been prepared and impressions taken for this purpose. Paula Sequeiros, a doctor specializing in Stomatology, Maxillofacial Surgery and Dental Aesthetics, with several years of experience in the area, calls them “contact lenses” and says they are an effective technique “which gives the tooth an appearance of 20 years, and whose result can be maintained for 15 to 20 years, or more”.

Practical and versatile, it is infallible in terms of rejuvenation and the aesthetic correction of broken, crooked and discolored teeth, or with disproportionate spaces between them. “Since it is a very thin film, the veneer takes many of its characteristics from the tooth, whether in terms of opacity or appearance”, comments the specialist, explaining that, for this very reason, the result “is absolutely natural”. .

Benefits

“It is a very little invasive technique, compared to others, namely the traditional fixed prosthodontics, the so-called ‘crowns’, in which dental wear is greater. On veneers, wear is minimal, since the veneer is bonded only to the front part of the tooth, behaving like synthetic enamel that fuses with the enamel of the natural tooth, becoming an integral part of it”, also this method can be applied in just a few teeth, coexisting in this way with natural teeth and dental implants. On the other hand, “the veneers have a chameleon-like effect, they are integrated into the tooth, with invisible margins that are placed supragingivalally, which allows for a harmonious and perfect relationship with the gum”.

Indication and conditions

What does it take to use this technique and what is promised? First you have to have teeth “in reasonable condition”. You can expect to “reverse all signs of aging, but not only”. In addition to rejuvenation, in some cases it is possible to straighten teeth and close the gaps between them. “The range of indications for this technique is enormous, but the main thing and what
is really fantastic is the anti-aging part”, says Paula Sequeiros.

Teeth are not healthier because they have veneers, but this can be a means of raising awareness or reinforcing daily oral hygiene care.

As for the conditions or requirements necessary for the placement of ceramic veneers, basically it is having teeth in relatively good condition, which, according to Paula Sequeiros, currently happens in a growing number of people.

Diagnosis and planning

In the first appointment, the doctor focuses on the person in front of her. Watch how she talks and smiles, or if she tries to hide her smile, and find out what expectations she has about the treatment. Data collection includes X-rays and photographs of the teeth and face and, finally, impressions of the teeth are done. Based on this , the doctor draws up a treatment plan and both are later sent to the ceramist, whose role is fundamental. The two exchange ideas about each clinical case and arrive at a final plan.

At the second appointment, the patient is briefed on the treatment plan. “He is shown how it will look, being presented with similar cases, with the before and after, and a simulation of his case in concrete through the models in the form of a mock-up. “At this time, you are informed of their cost and how many appointments for the final veneers to be placed.
If everything else is fine, that is, if the basics such as cleaning or treating caries are not necessary, the veneer placement process is quick.
